2nd Shift Mold Technician

Overview

Hoffer Plastics is hiring for Set Up/Mold Technicians, 2nd shift. The Mold Setup Technician is responsible for molding parts in accordance with internal and external customer requirements, including machine set up, auxiliary equipment set up and process parameter input. Maintain a neat and orderly work area in accordance with 5S standards and adhere to safety policies. The position is divided into four classifications based on skill set and responsibility, and pay rate will be determined accordingly.

Starting pay: $18.25 - $23.50 (based on experience) + 4% Shift Premium. 2nd shift hours are 4:00 pm - 12:00 am.

The following responsibilities will vary based on skill level and experience.

• Complete B level training curriculum during level
  
  C.
• Perform mold set up, and color changes to meet production demands.
• Set molding process parameters with the assistance of a foreman, supervisor, or A or B level molding technician.
• Monitor production for accuracy and efficiency and work with quality inspectors to identify defects.
• Perform material handler duties as assigned.

• Set molding process parameters to ensure part quality.
• Troubleshoot process, machine, and auxiliary equipment problems and make necessary changes to ensure quality and reduce downtime.
• Learn new technology as it is brought to manufacturing.
• Work with Supervisor and/or Lead Molding Technician to identify ways to improve productivity and reduce scrap, defects, etc.

• Work with quality inspectors to identify defects and make good decisions relative to process changes.
• Ability to sample new and existing molds.
• Keeps current with new technology in molding, auxiliary equipment, robots, etc.
• Promote safety by abiding by all related policies and procedures and set a good example for others.
• Help maintain 5S and cleanliness in the Plant by doing assigned cleaning tasks and set a good example for others.
• Assume responsibilities of supervisor or foremen in their absence.

• Usually stand/walk most of the shift.
• Frequently bend at waist, twist, kneel/crouch, climb ladders and climb up on machinery with proper fall protection.
• Occasionally push, pull and lift up to 75 lbs. or more.
• Occasionally lift above waist and/or shoulder up to 75 lbs and over.
• Sometimes perform hand/wrist/finger movements and foot movements for pedal controls on forklift.
• Occasionally perform keyboarding and squeezing movements.
• Frequently exposed to odors, dust and oil/grease.

• Minimum education of High School diploma or G.E.D. certificate.
• Must be able and interested in successfully progressing through leveled Molding Technician training curriculum.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and math proficiency.
• Proficient in reading/writing English.
• Computer proficient.
