Overview
Under direct supervision, writes, edits and optimizes CNC programs to create mechanical parts on 3- and 5-axis CNC machines. Creates highly diversified and complex programs for milling, drilling, boring, tapping of Aerospace parts while adhering to all safety features of the machines and plant. The CNC Programmer must be able to explain the respective role within the QMS and how their role contributes to quality ( Procedures).
The CNC Programmer shall contribute to product conformity as part of their daily job function and shall contribute to product safety ( travelers and the Injury and Illness Prevention Program Handbook). The CNC Programmer shall also be aware of ethical behavior and conduct themselves accordingly to AMRO policies and procedures ( Handbook).
- Maintain and Realize AS 9100 procedures and continuous improvement efforts
- Ensure department processes, safety rules, and practices are followed
- Create and modify programs to become more efficient
- Develop holding fixtures and select cutting tools as required
- Integrate your work with Program Management, Production, Quality departments for optimal effectiveness
- Maintain programs to current print/model revisions
- Able to work to deadlines/schedules
- Accepts, performs, and is accountable for efficiency and quality results of assigned duties
- Notify supervisor of any problems and/or difficulties and provide possible solutions
- Must understand how customer products are impacted in the event of failure
- Ensure programming office is kept neat and orderly at all times
Minimum 10 years’ experience using Catia, Vericut to write CNC programs in a machining environment. Work experience as a machinist or its equivalent a plus. Experience with Catia/Mastercam software or equivalent, and G&M codes. Able to read and understand process work instructions, blueprints, and engineering drawings. Experience operating all types of basic machine shop equipment such as drills, mills, lathes, grinders, saws.
Experience operating 3, 5 axis CNC machines.
- Knowledge and understanding of standard and metric terminology
- Ability to problem solve
- Ability to determine and calculate proper speeds and feeds
- Must be familiar with controls and instrumentation, tooling, and machine set up
- Working knowledge of basic safety policies and procedures
- Lean manufacturing knowledge a plus
- Must be self-confident and pay close attention to detail
- Time management and organization
- Must have good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate at all levels
- Must have a professional attitude as well as a passion for continuous improvement
- Must have direct communication with internal customers.
- Must be trained of applicable changes & customer requirements.
- Must know the QMS basic system of reporting, record keeping and follow instructions.
