The CDL Driver I delivers materials to job sites, inspects and maintains trucks, reports shortages, and assists in loading and storing materials. The role typically involves driving trucks with a capacity of over three tons, with opportunities for less experienced CDL or tractor trailer drivers.
Responsibilities include:- Operate vehicles safely and efficiently.
- Maintain a valid Class A or B CDL license.
- Prepare DOT logs for duty and driving hours.
- Organize and secure loads.
- Assist with loading and unloading materials.
- Check orders for accuracy and deliver to customer satisfaction.
- Perform daily vehicle inspections.
- Follow DOT guidelines and company policies.
- Provide excellent customer service and communicate effectively with customers and team members.
- Maintain cleanliness of trucks and yard.
- Operate truck-mounted forklifts safely.
- Participate in training and perform other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Basic CDL experience, preferably with flatbeds and tractor trailers.
- 1-3 years of CDL experience for interstate commerce.
- Ability to perform basic math, read orders, and communicate professionally.
- Maintain valid operator’s license and meet driver qualification standards.
- Knowledge of safe lifting techniques and current technologies (smartphones, GPS).
- Class A and B CDL licenses required.
- CDL Driver II, Long haul, Wide Load, Boom Crane, Non-CDL Driver I & II, depending on experience.
