Overview

Store Manager Job Description. Reports to Owners. Shift: Varies; must be willing to work some nights and every other weekend.

POSITION SUMMARY

Upholds the Core Values as determined by the management team. Store Managers are responsible for the complete day-to-day operation of the store, maximizing store sales and profitability while minimizing expenses, ensuring the store is optimally stocked and merchandised. A store manager contributes to the growth and development of the management team and store associates.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Sales and Operations
  • Delegate daily workload among associates to meet merchandising and visual presentation standards.
  • Hire, train and develop retail staff with goals for growth and success, provide ongoing performance feedback and recognize accomplishments.
  • Review store evaluations with the management team to identify opportunities and address issues with urgency.
  • Coordinate supervision of staff to meet sales goals and follow company procedures accurately.
  • Conduct associate evaluations to provide feedback for improvement, praise and growth opportunities.
  • Develop and implement in-store marketing including promotions, events and seasonal merchandising based on store needs.
  • Complete merchandising updates according to J.W. Niederauer Inc. standards.
  • Work with vendors to develop merchandising strategies and assist with plan-o-grams and updates.
  • Forecast scheduling needs to meet customer demand and create work schedules.
  • Monitor payroll to ensure compliance with budgets and take corrective measures as necessary.
  • Review staffing strengths and opportunities with HR prior to additions or terminations.
Customer Service
  • Promote Customer Service as The #1 Priority; coach associates to achieve this daily.
  • Promote and model “Amaze Every Customer Every Time.”
  • Use huddles and meetings to communicate performance, educate, engage and motivate the team.
  • Drive customer satisfaction by acknowledging customers, meeting needs, and resolving concerns quickly.
  • Review customer service measurement reports and work with the team to improve service levels.
  • Document at least one observation per associate monthly and provide coaching to ensure consistent service.
Inventory
  • Maintain accurate inventory through on-hand integrity, receiving, transfers, store communication, product mix and flow in line with best practices and deadlines.
  • Utilize inventory reports to reduce shrinkage and maximize inventory accuracy.
Coaching and Training
  • Engage in leadership development opportunities and identify training needs for store associates (New-Hire orientation, on-the-job training, vendor training, etc.).
Safety, Compliance and Store Environment
  • Enforce safety policies and store environment procedures; model safe behavior.
  • Conduct preventative safety and fire inspections and address issues as needed.
Position Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience in a retail setting.

  • Analytical mindset with the ability to delegate and be self-directed.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and project management skills.
  • Technical proficiency with basic retail computer systems and related software.
  • Ability to develop and maintain client relationships and strategic partnerships.
  • Dress according to company policy.
  • Valid in-state driver license with an acceptable driving record per company standards.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, walk, reach, and bend to perform duties.
  • Move and handle merchandise up to 40 pounds and fixtures, including lifting and moving as required.
