Job Summary

The Food Service Assistant is responsible for monitoring and recording proper food temperature, setting up and maintaining a clean and sanitized serving area, preparing and serving food items, restocking food areas, cleaning and sanitizing equipment, receiving payment using a computerized register, and other related responsibilities. The role complies with HACCP guidelines, provides outstanding customer service, communicates effectively with patrons and co‑workers, and establishes effective working relationships.

Responsibilities
  • Monitors and records proper temperature of food.
  • Sets up and maintains a clean and sanitized serving area.
  • Prepares and serves food items.
  • Restocks food areas.
  • Cleans and sanitizes equipment.
  • Receives payment for food and beverages using a computerized register.
  • Operates equipment such as grills, beverage machines, toasters, ice‑cream dispensers, cash registers, steam equipment, dishwashers, refrigerators, and freezers.
Qualifications
  • Minimum age 16 years.
  • Previous customer service experience or retail counting and reconciliation of money preferred.
  • Knowledge of food service preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written directions.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to work independently when necessary.
  • Understanding of food safety and sanitation processes.
  • Ability to be on feet for the majority of the day and walk far distances.
  • On‑the‑job training will be provided;
    Serv Safe certification may be required depending on location;
    Basic Life Support (BLS) may be required depending on location requirements.
