Department DetailsThis will include two 8‑hour shifts and two 12‑hour shifts, every other weekend and on holidays.
- Evening shift: 2 pm to 10:30 pm
- Day shift: 6 am to 6:30 pm
- $4,000 sign‑on bonus
- Extra night differential after 6 pm
The Nursing Assistant (NA) serves as caregiver to residents during the scheduled work period in long‑term care. The NA provides resident‑centered nursing care and daily living assistance under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN), delivering age‑appropriate care that satisfies the resident’s physical and psychological needs as outlined in the care plan.
The NA is expected to understand and adhere to infection prevention and control policies and personal protective equipment use. Assistance includes bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing, vital sign measurement, psychosocial support, and other personal care. The NA also assists with transfer techniques, repositioning, walking, range‑of‑motion and passive exercises.
Other duties include food preparation and dining assistance, creating a positive dining experience, and providing water and supplements. The NA supports nursing staff during procedures, documents resident interactions and outcomes, and communicates changes in condition or concerns to the charge nurse. The NA collects non‑invasive specimens, gathers vital signs, manages housekeeping and laundry services, and encourages participation in wellness and recreational programs.
The NA may also participate in committees and task forces as needed.
- High‑school graduate or GED preferred, but not required.
- Minimum age of 16. Prior clinical or nursing‑assistant experience in long‑term care preferred.
- Required Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing or state certification within four months of start date while enrolled in a training program or pursuing certification through endorsement. CNA training and certification are provided by the facility.
- Completion of yearly departmental competency testing and maintenance of continuing‑education records, with at least 12 hours of continuing education annually. Maintenance of all departmental certifications is required.
- When applicable, certification and registration with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry for appropriate states.
- Dependent on facility responsibilities, this role may classify as a Sanford Category II driver, requiring a motor‑vehicle report and proof of a valid driver’s license. Medical qualification to perform essential driving functions is also required per Sanford Driving Policy.
