Elite Executive Partners is searching for a Safety Director for a strong and growing manufacturing client.
The Safety Director conducts safety meetings, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance, evaluate performance, identify corrective action, and implement follow up assessments. Plans, implements, and conducts preventative care, safety, and compliance training programs.
Essential Functions- Responsible for the environmental, health, safety, and regulatory aspect.
- Work with existing, and continue to develop further, safety and environmental programs for compliance to company and government regulations.
- Lead a team of individual contributors responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring safety and environmental programs, processes, and policies to safeguard employees, the public and to ensure compliance with governmental regulations.
- Maintain records of training, qualifications, certifications, etc. as they apply to the safety program.
- Provide training to enable effective operation of the established safety systems.
- Initiate, document and monitor corrective actions to adhere to safety programs.
- Gather information, generate required and/or 1st Report of injury reports, communicate to appropriate individuals, and follow up as necessary.
- Lead the safety committee to accommodate production schedules and requirements.
- Work with employees to resolve safety issues.
- Keep the facility management team informed of safety and environmental concerns.
- Participate in the investigation of accidents and injuries and lead corrective action efforts to ensure deficient processes are updated, trained to, implemented, and adhered to.
- Assist in managing worker’s compensation issues.
- Excellent managerial and leadership skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- 3 years of safety experience in a manufacturing facility preferred.
- Ability to lead and interface efficiently across all levels.
- Knowledge of all State and Federal regulations relative to safety, health, environment, and worker’s compensation.
- Knowledge of manufacturing operations.
- Ability to maintain accurate and current records to generate complete and timely reports.
- Shown ability to influence and negotiate from the shop floor to senior management.
- Certified Safety Professional certification desired.
