The Nursing Assistant (NA) provides resident‑centered caregiving during evening shifts in a long‑term care facility.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting residents with daily living activities such as bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing, and mobility, using correct transfer techniques and equipment.
- Recording vital signs, providing psychosocial support, and documenting resident interactions and care outcomes.
- Supporting residents with meals and snacks, preparing food, and ensuring a positive dining experience.
- Co‑working with nursing staff on care plans, infection prevention, and personal protective equipment use.
- Performing basic housekeeping, laundry, and wellness program assistance.
- Collecting non‑invasive body fluid specimens and participating in departmental or organizational committees as needed.
- High school graduate or GED (preferred but not required).
- Minimum age 16.
- Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long‑term care is preferred.
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing within four months of hire, or enrollment in a recognized training program.
- Completion of annual competency testing and maintenance of continuing education credits (minimum 12 hours per year).
- Maintenance of all required facility certifications.
- For applicable states: certification and registration with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry.
- Potential driver classification (Sanford Category II Driver) may be required, necessitating valid driver’s license and vehicle clearance in accordance with Sanford Driving Policy.
