Location: Woodrow Wilson Keeble Memorial Health Care Center, 100 Lake Traverse Drive, Sisseton, SD 57262
Schedule: Typically 40–50 hours/week, including some weekends and holidays
Clearance Requirements: Background check, fingerprint clearance, credentialing, privileging
Compensation: All-inclusive hourly rate (includes travel, lodging, per diem, taxes, and fringe)
$100 - $125 an hour
Position SummaryAkicita Federal is seeking experienced Outpatient Midlevel Providers (NPs or PAs) to deliver high-quality, culturally sensitive primary care services to American Indian and Alaska Native populations at WWKMHCC under a non-personal service contract. Providers will be responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, and managing care for patients across the lifespan in an outpatient setting.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver primary care to a rural patient population in alignment with IHS standards.
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat a wide range of acute and chronic conditions.
- Refer patients for specialty care and follow up on recommendations.
- Utilize Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems for all charting and documentation.
- Participate in the Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) model and quality improvement activities.
- Ensure timely and complete documentation in accordance with HIM and IHS standards.
- Collaborate with medical staff, participate in peer reviews, and attend assigned committees.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA and federal privacy regulations.
- Active and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license in at least one U.S. state or territory.
- Board Certification, eligibility, or partial completion of an accredited residency program.
- Current BLS certification (ACLS preferred).
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in Family or General Medicine within the past three (3) years.
- Proficiency in EHR systems and clinical documentation.
- Immunization records up to date (MMR, Varicella, Tdap, Flu, Hep B, and recent PPD or chest X-ray).
- Must pass FBI background check and credentialing process including NPDB, HIPDB, and Governing Board approval.
- Experience in rural or tribal healthcare settings.
- Familiarity with Indian Health Service (IHS) operations, policies, and standards.
- Cultural sensitivity and ability to build trust with Native American communities.
