Shared Services SPED Teacher (Beresford School District and Alcester-Hudson School District)

Notes:
Employee of the BSD to provide a minimum of 0.5 FTE services to the BSD and a maximum of 0.5 FTE services to the AHSD. The BSD will conduct, maintain, and be responsible for the staff evaluation process. Educator to be hired utilizing the BSD Negotiated Agreement.

• Bachelor's Degree in and endorsements in the area(s) of teaching assignment.
• Current/valid South Dakota Teaching Certificate.
• Successful student teaching.
• Physical requirements:
  
  constant hand‑eye/mind‑eye coordination, frequent walking, keyboarding, speaking, writing, bending, carrying, pushing, pulling, sitting, turning, and lifting up to 30 lbs. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; skills in human relations, leadership and conflict management.
• Knowledge of teaching techniques that meet the diverse needs of students.
• Demonstrated skills in computer word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
• Knowledge of IEP process and special education law; training in assessment and interpretation of information.

• Plan instructional tasks that are meaningful and related to learning goals.
• Implement specialized instruction utilizing researched strategies and interventions based on the needs of the students.
• Maintain a strong instructional focus utilizing the elements of effective instruction.
• Communicate a high level of expectation.
• Communicate clear learning goals to students.
• Address various learning styles.
• Conduct ongoing assessments for learning.
• Effectively and consistently enforce rules and follow procedures.

• Conduct parent‑teacher conferences in accordance with District policy.
• Case‑manage student individual education programs (IEPs) to meet specialized needs of students with disabilities.
• Coordinate special education documentation regarding the special education process including referral, evaluation, IEP development and implementation, and related processes in compliance with district, state, and federal requirements including timelines.
• Participate in IEP meetings and communicate with parents on a routine basis to keep them informed of their child's progress.
• Maintain student special education records and related information as required by law and in a confidential manner.
