Unit: ER – P4 Trauma Center (STEMI & Stroke Receiving) Unit Overview: 28 beds (2 Trauma/Code rooms) Fast Track via PIT area Separate triage; ER holds managed by ER RNs 2 psych/seclusion rooms Security on-site 24/7 (stationed at ER) Avg volume: 70–75 patients/day Ratios: 1:4 Certifications
Required:
BLS, ACLS, PALS TNCC required effective 10/21/2026 Patient Population &
Skills:
All ages: infant to geriatric Sepsis, trauma (P4), overdose, COPD, medical/surgical Must manage critical drips, dysrhythmias, BiPAP/CPAP, vents Radial ABGs (RN), RT handles brachial ABGs Staffing & Support:
Charge RN without patients;
House Supervisor 24/7 ER Techs for EKGs, vitals, CPR, transport RT available 24/7 (on call, not dedicated) Phlebotomy available 24/7 Equipment & Diagnostics:
Bedside monitors (no monitor techs; RNs read strips) CT & X-ray located adjacent to ER (RN/Tech transport) Shifts & Scheduling: 6:45a–7:15p | 10:45a–11:15p | 3:00p–3:00a | 6:45p–7:15a Block scheduling allowed Every other weekend; holidays rotate No call, no floating Dress Code: RNs/LPNs:
Navy scrubs (solid only) CNAs/Monitor Techs:
Dark gray/pewter Closed-toe shoes only (no Crocs) Orientation:
Hospital orientation + full nursing orientation Computer training Two 12-hr precepted shifts Abbreviated skills checklist due within 90 days
