Provides evaluation of and care for respiratory therapy patients under the direct supervision of a licensed registered or certified respiratory therapist.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Set up and maintain low flow oxygen devices of 6 LPM or less, including nasal cannula or a simple mask.
- Set up and maintain aerosol devices with Fi02 of equal to or less than 50%.
- Deliver medications through a spontaneous small volume nebulizer.
- Deliver medication via Metered Dose Inhaler (MDI) or dry powder inhaler.
- Measure peak flow, simple spirometry, and pulse oximetry.
- Administer airway clearance devices or techniques such as therapy vest, chest physiotherapy, incentive spirometry, suctioning via artificial airway, and positive expiratory pressure therapies.
- Communicate appropriately and effectively with other members of the healthcare team regarding all aspects of patient care.
- Assist with patient and family/caregiver education along with other members of the healthcare team.
