Campus Chaplain/Pastor, Epworth Children’s Home Summary

Provide faith formation within the Epworth community and extended programs through the sacraments, worship, pastoral care and Christian Education.

Primary Performance Objectives
  • Facilitate opportunities for clients to be introduced or deepen their relationship with the Triune God
  • Ensure the sustainability of the overall faith formation component of Epworth through a weekly worship service and Bible study with clients on the campus located in Columbia, South Carolina
Job Task Summary
  • Plan and implement quality and meaningful worship experiences on a consistent basis
  • Assist with coordination of volunteers to lead Sunday School, choir, and Bible studies
  • Assist with coordination to conference youth activities such as Salkehatchie, Asbury Hills and VBS.
  • Welcome and connect with new and current residents and be seen as a resource for pastoral care. This may include but not is limited to attending sporting events, special programs, and school events.
  • Will have dedicated office hours.
  • Visit clients and staff during hospitalizations as needed.
  • Participate as appropriate in the PQI (Performance and Quality Improvement) process.
  • Understands and follows personnel policies and practices as outlined in the ECH Staff Manual and/or department manuals and in compliance with the SCDSS group home regulations as well as those outlined in the Fixed Price Bid Contract with the South Carolina Department of Social Services, and the C.A.R.E. practice model.
  • Becomes proficient in trauma informed work and in CARE (Children and Residential Experience).
  • Other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Volunteers and Interns working with children during church and other faith formation activities
  • Oversee choir program (may include musician)
Qualifications
  • Master of Divinity, Ordained Elder or Deacon of the UMC (preferred)
  • Experience in ministry with and to children and youth
  • Proficient in verbal and written communication
  • Must be able to pass standard background checks, including drug screen, employment physical, SLED, DSS Central Registry and Sex Offenders Registry
  • Has a belief system and engages in faith practices that are compatible with those of the United Methodist Church
