Position OverviewAs a Low-Voltage Cabling Technician at Telcom, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting low-voltage cabling systems used in data, voice, and video networks. You will work on projects involving structured cabling, security systems, and audio/visual systems in both commercial and residential settings. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, a solid understanding of cabling standards, and be able to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities- Install, terminate, and test low-voltage cabling systems, including data, voice, and video networks.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics for cabling projects.
- Ensure all installations are completed to code and meet industry standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with existing cabling systems.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Provide exceptional customer service and communication on job sites.
- Work in compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
- Proven experience in low-voltage cabling installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Strong knowledge of cabling standards (e.g., TIA/EIA, NEC, etc.).
- Experience with cable testing and troubleshooting equipment.
Ability to work with various cabling types, such as Cat5e, Cat6, fiber optics, and coaxial. - Familiarity with industry tools and technology for low-voltage installations.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Strong communication skills and customer service orientation.
- Ability to lift and carry equipment and materials (up to 50 lbs).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience with additional systems such as security cameras, access control, and audiovisual systems.
- OSHA certification or other safety-related training.
- Previous experience in commercial or residential cabling projects.
