Overview
Position Description Immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Experienced Mid-Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Columbia, SC.

- Hourly Pay: $24.00 per hour
- Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE certification obtained up to $700
- Quarterly Bonus:
Ryder pays up to $500 every quarter (four times per year) - Sign-On Bonus: $1,250 at 30 days and $1,250 at 90 days
- Schedule:
Monday – Friday, weekends off - Hours:
First Shift 7:00 am – 3:30 pm

Requirements- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Vocational or technical certification or post-secondary degree preferred
- Basic tools required
- Demonstrated aptitude and experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including:
- Routine preventive maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work)
- Two years or more of combined classroom training and work experience (preferred)
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred)
- This position requires driving Ryder vehicles. To become a Ryder employee you must:
- Obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
- Pass a Ryder drug test
- Pass a DOT physical
- Pass a Ryder road test
- Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
Important Note: Some positions require additional screening that may include employment and education verification; motor vehicle records check and a road test; and/or badging or background requirements of the customer to which you are assigned.
Responsibilities- Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties
- Performs standard vehicle maintenance
- Performs standard component inspections and repairs
- Performs preventive maintenance
- Diagnoses mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computer
- Identifies root cause of failures and performs repairs as required
- Replaces defective components as instructed
- Performs facility maintenance duties
- Interacts with customers/drivers to determine nature of the complaint
- Uses Shop Management System and electronic documentation
- Complies with safety, DOT, MOT and other applicable guidelines
- Performs other duties to support operations
