USC Housing – Facilities needs a strong electrical maintenance supervisor to lead the electrical team, assign work orders via Campus Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), track employee time, and manage shop projects. The role supports building and campus electrical systems for Housing, Shared Services IT, campus Law Enforcement and Security, and FIXX line. Responsibilities include both corrective repairs and preventive maintenance of electrical systems.
EssentialJob Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitor, assess and schedule work assignments using industry work standards.
- Supervise, train, monitor and evaluate electricians and other staff.
- Develop, implement and provide oversight for preventative maintenance on critical electrical equipment, controls and distribution panels.
- Identify and direct the repair and installation of electronic and electromechanical equipment.
- Allocate, assign and verify the accuracy and completion of shop work orders in Asset Works AiM.
- Plan and oversee small electrical projects.
- Provide technical support to other departments on campus.
- Respond to unforeseen occurrences and perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education And Experience
Requires job‑related accreditation from a technical school or an applicable skilled trades program and 4 or more years of job‑related experience. Certification, training, education, or experience may be substituted with an equivalent combination.
Preferred Qualifications- State electrical license, completion of a qualified electrical apprenticeship, and/or a two‑year electrical technical degree.
- Variable work schedule to reflect departmental needs throughout the academic year.
- Availability for evening and weekend hours as required.
- Designation as essential personnel during inclement or hazardous weather and other emergencies.
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of computer software such as Microsoft Office, People Soft/timesheet programs, and basic computer skills.
- Knowledge of safety practices in maintenance and the electrical fields.
- Knowledge of tools, equipment, materials and supplies used in various trades, especially the electrical trade.
- Knowledge of techniques, methods, requirements and practices in the electronic trade.
- Skill in using trade tools and equipment.
- Skill in making emergency and general repairs and adjustments to building and maintenance equipment.
- Ability to comprehend blueprints, plans and specifications.
- Ability to understand and follow instructions.
- Ability to perform heavy manual labor.
- Ability to plan, direct and supervise subordinates, and evaluate their work.
- Ability to plan small jobs.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to use judgment and initiative.
