Asphalt Team Member

Position Summary

The Team Member's primary function is to safely assist in the efficient operations of the assigned crew. The team member is responsible for various tasks involved in the project and job site operations.

• Assist in the preparation and cleanup of work sites before and after asphalt paving projects.
• Operate hand and power tools such as shovels, rakes, brooms, and compactors.
• Load and unload materials and equipment from trucks.
• Direct traffic at work sites to ensure safety of crew members and the public.
• Assist in the application of asphalt, including shoveling and raking asphalt material.
• Mixing and spreading materials as directed by supervisors.
• Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment.
• Follow safety guidelines and procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to ensure efficient workflow.
• Perform additional duties and incidental work as directed.

• Must be able to pass background and drug testing as required by federal and/or state transportation regulations.
• Ability to listen, understand, and follow directions.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to speak in a professional and courteous manner with customers and coworkers.
• Ability to remain flexible with work hours and work overtime as required for project completion.
• Ability to perform manual labor and outside work in all weather conditions including inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
• Must use Personal Protective Equipment and have a strong commitment to following safety procedures and protocols to prevent accidents and injuries.

High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred.

• Must have physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas.
• Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 80 pounds and push and/or pull 50-pound loads at a time.
• Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
• Must be able to work some Saturdays and at night, when needed.
