Position: Correctional Officer (012582) Hospital Security Team (MUSC) - Chester (CHESTER)
Location: Chester

  • Ensures safety, order, and control of inmates housed in the community hospitals and all other duties assigned by the Division of Security Management.
  • Inspects posts to ensure proper performance of duties.
  • Is up to date on security status of inmates assigned to the hospital.
  • Ensures control of security keys/equipment at the community hospital.
  • Prepares, submits, and reviews operational and administrative reports.
  • Responds to complaints and concerns from hospital staff.

  • U.S. Citizen.
  • 18 and over.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Tattoos:
    Must not be offensive and/or gang related or visibly located on the face or head. Tattoos on the neck will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
  • Cannot have been convicted of a crime with a maximum allowable sentence of one year or more, or a fine of $1,000.
  • Must pass a physical exam administered by SCDC.
  • Must be certified by the SCDC Training Academy within six (6) months of entry into this position.
  • Must have one (1) year of experience working in a medium/maximum correctional setting.

Prefer 18 months’ work experience in correctional, security, or police work, one (1) year of which is in a medium/maximum correctional setting.
