Description

The Microbiologist Intern will gain hands‑on experience supporting the Environmental Monitoring program within a regulated Microbiology laboratory. This internship is designed to provide practical exposure to microbiological testing, microbial identification, and laboratory operations while working alongside experienced microbiologists. The intern will develop technical skills, learn Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and contribute to maintaining a compliant and organized laboratory environment.

This position follows a rotating shift schedule, including 10-hour shifts and weekend coverage
, providing real-world experience in an operational laboratory setting.

Please note, the schedule for this position will be from 9AM – 6PM.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in Environmental Monitoring activities within controlled environments
  • Assist with microbiological testing, including microbial identification
  • Support sterility testing activities (Sterility 6‑S)
  • Collect water samples for microbiological analysis
  • Assist with activities related to the Contamination Control Strategy
  • Organize and maintain batch records in accordance with laboratory procedures
  • Perform data entry and assist with data review under supervision
  • Learn the importance of equipment calibration and laboratory compliance
  • Stock laboratory supplies and assist with inventory management
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and general upkeep of the Microbiology laboratory
Qualifications
  • Candidate actively pursuing a 4‑year degree in Microbiology or related scientific field from an accredited college or university
  • Coursework or experience in a general biology laboratory required
  • Microbiology laboratory experience preferred
  • Ability to understand/follow all applicable standard operating procedures and cGMPs/cGLPs routinely
  • Demonstrated knowledge of standard laboratory techniques and procedures
  • Proficient with current word processing, spreadsheets, and database software
  • Ability to operate standard laboratory instrumentation
  • Strong interpersonal/group communication skills with the ability to influence others
  • Ability to participate in and contribute to a team‑oriented work environment
