Position DescriptionThe Department of Mathematics at the University of South Carolina invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher to work on an NIH
-funded project focused on the multiscale modeling of Stimuli-Responsive Wormlike Micelles for targeted drug delivery. This project aims to develop a first-of-its-kind multiscale simulation platform to predict the behavior of these smart nanocarriers under varying pH and flow conditions. The work bridges theory, computation, and experimental validation to design next-generation therapeutic systems. The position is ideal for a candidate passionate about closing the loop between computational simulations and wet-lab experiments.

Education and Experience
Requires a Doctoral (Ph.D.) degree in area of research specialty.
Preferred Qualifications- Doctoral degree in Applied Mathematics, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or other related field.
- Demonstrated expertise in hands-on rheometry and strong skills in modeling and computational simulation.
- Proficiency in scientific programming languages, particularly Matlab and/or Python.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Knowledge of research. Strong data analysis, statistical modeling, and visualization skills. Knowledge of experimental rheometry and computational modeling and simulation.
Job Duties- Design and conduct rheological experiments to characterize micellar response to pH and shear; generate validation datasets. (Essential Function Yes, % of Time 35)
- Develop and refine stochastic and macroscopic constitutive models using experimental data; ensure multiscale accuracy. (Essential Function Yes, % of Time 30)
- Prepare peer-reviewed manuscripts, NIH reports, and conference presentations. (Essential Function Yes, % of Time 25)
