Job Description SummaryDeliver and monitor specialized infusions or injectable pharmacological treatments in the clinical setting. Monitor patients for infusion‑related reactions, intervene as required, accurately document the transfusion, and submit transfusion reports in a timely manner. Maintain effective communication with the Physician, Nursing Manager or Director to ensure patient safety and satisfaction.
Responsibilities- Develop and update individualized treatment plans.
- Conduct patient health assessments and education.
- Obtain IV access through peripheral IV or central line access (PICC, midline, port, etc.).
- Provide PICC/midline/port care and dressing change using sterile technique.
- Prepare and administer a variety of specialized intravenous or injectable pharmacological treatments.
- Provide patient care using nursing assessment, diagnosis, counseling, education, and reporting adverse events to the medical director and nursing director.
- Perform routine nursing duties in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Provide patient‑focused care following established care plans or medical directives.
- Perform specialized nursing procedures for which current competency is demonstrated.
- Observe and document patient condition and response during infusion.
- Interpret and implement technical instructions related to patient care.
- Transcribe physician’s orders if needed.
- Follow‑up communication with patients the day after the infusion to assess reactions.
- Maintain calm under pressure and adapt to changing environments.
- Participate in the orientation of other staff as requested.
- Manage complications from infusion therapies.
- Clean equipment and chairs after each use with approved disinfectant.
- Ensure the infusion center is appropriately stocked and restocked at day’s end.
- Assess for continuation of orders and notify IMC support coordinator when needed.
- Document coordination and patient‑event activities in the EMR as directed.
- Call bell pre‑assessments and assessments.
- Assist in managing patient paperwork and audit EMR for proper placement.
- Perform care‑plan updates for each patient’s appointment.
- Engage in ongoing internal or external continuing education.
- Participate in quality activities and continuous improvement initiatives per the Quality Management System.
- Engage in proactive health and safety activities while performing duties.
- Notify immediate supervisor of any health and safety risks or concerns.
- Review patient satisfaction surveys.
- Present to work as expected and maintain a professional appearance.
- Collaborate with the IP medical director, pharmacists, and other team members.
- Complete assigned work on time according to established schedules.
- Comply with departmental and organizational policies.
- Maintain confidentiality of client and corporate information.
- Maintain relationships with exceptional interpersonal skills and customer service.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program and current licensure as a Registered Nurse.
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification.
- At least two years of recent IV experience; excellent IV skills required.
- Experience in acute care and/or transfusions; neurology infusion experience highly preferred.
- Experience with central lines (CVAD, PICC, etc.) required.
