Job Description
At Stevens Towing Company, Inc., we offer a full‑time position for a Shipyard Lead Person located in Yonges Island, SC. This role requires experience with dry docking tugs, barges and other marine vessels and a willingness to work all shifts, overtime, weekends and holidays as needed.

You will oversee some aspects of the work on customer equipment and be responsible and accountable for the performance of shipyard personnel for safety, quality, cost, and scheduling. Your responsibilities include administrative functions needed to support the customer’s project and ensuring projects are executed in line with customer requirements and Stevens Towing Co., Inc.’s policies and procedures while delivering excellent customer service.
PrimaryResponsibilities
- Oversee production work on customer equipment, ensuring that production workers are focused and productive at their assigned duties.
- Ensure all work meets appropriate quality requirements.
- Enforce safety procedures and policies.
- Record hours and costs accurately.
- Plan work to meet customer schedule requirements.
- Communicate accurate, timely, and detailed information to management to support decision‑making, including labor and resource allocation among current projects and estimates for future project bids.
- Coordinate work and resources with fellow supervisors and other production team leaders so that the production operation can operate efficiently and profitably.
- Effectively interact with the customer’s representatives while meeting their schedule and daily requirements.
- Ensure that the correct materials are ordered and delivered on a timely basis.
- Provide other support as needed by the shipyard supervisor and other managers.
- Maintain a clean and safe shipyard, and foster a well‑trained and motivated staff.
- Direct project activities in areas of safety, personnel, production, scheduling, material handling and quality, and ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies.
- Participate in random drug screens as a condition of employment.
- Minimum five years’ production experience and two years of supervisory experience.
- Valid driver’s license and TWIC.
- Knowledge of safety rules and proper usage of safety equipment.
- Compliance with all Safety and Pollution Prevention Regulations and Procedures.
