The Master Scheduler is responsible for developing, maintaining, and executing the master production schedule to ensure optimal use of resources, on-time delivery, and alignment with customer demand and business objectives. This role serves as a central coordination point between sales, operations, procurement, and manufacturing to balance capacity, inventory, and service levels.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain the Master Production Schedule (MPS) based on customer demand, forecasts, inventory levels, and capacity constraints
- Coordinate closely with Sales, Operations, Procurement, and Manufacturing to align production plans with business priorities
- Analyze demand forecasts and adjust schedules to accommodate changes in orders, lead times, or capacity
- Monitor material availability and work with Purchasing to ensure timely procurement of components and raw materials
- Identify and resolve scheduling conflicts, bottlenecks, and capacity constraints
- Maintain accurate scheduling data within ERP/MRP systems
- Track production performance metrics, including schedule adherence, on-time delivery, and inventory turns
- Lead or support Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) meetings and provide schedule-related insights
- Communicate schedule changes clearly and proactively to internal stakeholders
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to planning, scheduling, and inventory management
- Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and safety requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3–5 years of experience in production planning, scheduling, or supply chain roles within a manufacturing environment
- Strong working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis
- Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, capacity planning, and inventory control
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities
- APICS/ASCM certification (CPIM, CSCP, or similar)
- Experience in a multi-product or make-to-order manufacturing environment
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies
- Strategic planning and prioritization
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Proactive and adaptable mindset
- Primarily office-based with regular interaction with manufacturing operations
- Occasional extended hours may be required to support production demands or schedule changes
