Talley Industries, LLC, a division of Carpenter Technology Corporation, is a mini mill supplying a variety of sizes and specifications of high-quality round, square and hexagonal stainless- steel bars for distribution.
Tends fabricating machines such as peelers, grinders, straighteners, pre-straighteners, saws, eddy current machines, sanders, grinders that form and resize coil and bar material to customer specifications and quality standards by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Read job specifications (work orders) and/or consult with previous shift operators to determine machine adjustments and material requirements for jobs that will be run.
- Set rollers, dies and guides as specified by job requirements.
- Observe machine operation throughout the line to detect work piece defects or machine malfunction.
- Measure work piece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation and make subsequent adjustments as required to achieve proper dimensions.
- When a size change occurs, check and ensure that uncoilers, pre-straighteners, peelers, straighteners, grinders, saws, and/or sander/polishers are set up properly for new job, replace parts and make adjustments as necessary.
- Change rollers in the straightener as required.
- Generally oversee work activities of Inspector and Material Handlers on line.
- Perform the functions of Inspector or Material Handler when necessary.
- Other duties may be assigned, including housekeeping, cross training and operator level maintenance in support of equipment operations.
- Responsibilities also include attention to safety according to specific training and safety rules.
High School diploma, GED, or equivalent; ability to read and write English; basic mathematical aptitude; fundamental problem solving skills; ability to act on decisions independently without specific guidance from supervisor.
