Operations Manager
WHY DO WE NEED YOU? Principal Responsibilities
- Prioritize safety as the organization's top value by emphasizing machine safety, conducting thorough risk assessments, and ensuring accurate reporting and proactive correction of unsafe behaviors.
Maintain a strong, consistent safety culture through ongoing training, continuous improvement efforts, and full compliance with OSHA and environmental regulations.
- Monitor and sustain key performance indicators (KPIs) including Safety, Service, Efficiency, and COPQ.
- Enforce company policies such as cell phone usage, break schedules, attendance, and productivity expectations.
- Foster employee engagement and promote a collaborative, team-oriented work environment. Lead weekly departmental meetings to communicate goals, updates, and performance expectations.
- Ensure all quality standards are met and support ISO 9001 compliance initiatives.
- Manage daily production schedules and oversee P1, expedite, and CS911 processes.
- Maintain accurate administrative records related to staffing, scheduling, maintenance activities, and capital project requirements.
- Evaluate employee skill levels, coordinate training programs, and support cross-training to enhance workforce flexibility.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, maintenance, and external vendors on capital project planning and execution.
- Review customer returns to determine rework feasibility and support corrective actions.
- Oversee factory consumables, including perishable tooling essential for production.
- Provide hands-on support to the production team when operational needs arise.
- Document employee performance, conduct performance reviews, and deliver constructive feedback to support development and accountability.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience with CNC equipment, manual machining, and GD&T.
- At least 5 years of management or supervisory experience.
- High school diploma plus a two-year technical degree from an accredited institution.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to analyze data and prepare reports.
- Ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Highly motivated, results-driven, and capable of setting priorities, managing schedules, and operating within established procedures and budgets.
The Saint-Gobain Superabrasives-North America manufacturing facility in Travelers Rest, South Carolina is the manufacturing site for diamond dressing rolls, direct plated and dressing tool products serving high volume operations in the automotive, aerospace, bearing and machine manufacturer industry. The products manufactured are used to shape materials too hard or too fragile for conventional abrasives. They are made by using electroplating, brazing and hand-setting processes and used for producing parts in a large number of machine tooling applications, primarily in the aerospace and automobile industries.
