Forklift Operator, Material Handler

CHEMICAL OPERATOR / PACKAGER
POSITION SUMMARY:
This Chemical Operator/Packager is responsible for performing all day-to-day activities involving Material Handling and Packaging functions
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
• Safely use standard forklift, man-up turret forklift, pallet jack and hand cart to load, unload, and move product
• Material Handling and Packaging functions – filling, lifting, rolling and labeling drums and pails of hazardous chemicals by following detailed procedures
• Completing required paperwork for product batches
• Keep work area clean and organized and ensure equipment is kept in clean, working order
• Adhere to OSHA standards and safe work practices at all times
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:
• High school diploma or GED equivalent, and previous experience in shipping, receiving, material handling is a must; preferably in a manufacturing warehouse environment in the Chemical industry
• Forklift certification and/or ability to successfully complete forklift training
• Basic math and computer skills
• Knowledge of OSHA standards and Safe Work procedures
• Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with co-workers and supervisors
• Self-starter with the ability to work under minimum supervision, be highly motivated, and enjoy working as part of a team
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:
• Ability to work an eight (8) hour shift in a fast paced, chemical manufacturing warehouse environment. Overtime may be required
• Must have the ability to lift, push/pull, and carry up to 50 lbs., stand for long periods of time, and frequently walk, bend, kneel, stoop, reach, and generally perform physically demanding tasks
• Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to, hard hats, steel toe cap boots, and company provided uniform
