OverviewThe Specialist, Plant Engineering Assembly is responsible for ensuring seamless production of the Scout Motors vehicle assembly, reporting to the Manager of the Plant Engineering Assembly.
What you’ll do- Development and implementation of planning concepts and projects, including design specifications for the Assembly‑Shop department.
- Planning of complete production processes, equipment (especially conveyors) and methods across all work sequences in the Assembly‑Shop department, elaborating scopes into space plans.
- Creation of production plans for all work sequences according to valid time‑finding procedures, ensuring and controlling defined measures and coordinating technical contractors.
- Approval of technical specifications of production equipment and clarification of technical issues with contractors and suppliers.
- Responsible for layouts, specifications, time schedules and investment plans, following economic standards.
- Preparation of offers, comparative analyses and purchase orders.
- Realization of PV, 0‑series and production ramp‑up to series operation.
- Processing of planning orders, improvement proposals and change requests including ongoing revision.
- Coordination of related departments, R&D and operators with focus on implementation of product‑design suggestions and identification of optimization measures.
- Assumption of special tasks corresponding to the skills and duties of the job holder.
- Responsible for factual cooperative collaboration with supervisors, employees and affected departments, in compliance with existing guidelines, standards and regulations.
- This role is based out of the Scout Motors location in Columbia, South Carolina.
- Daily attendance in office with in‑person meetings and events regularly.
- Occasional travel to participate in events on behalf of the company.
- 5+ years of professional experience in automotive production.
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in mechanical, electrical engineering, or related fields.
- Special skills for conveyor in general assembly and interlinked conveyor in automotive, including:
- Skillet platforms
- Heavy EMS
- Belt & chain conveyor
- Power and free conveyor
- Connecting conveyor
- Interlinked conveyor
- Car body sequencing modules
- Steelwork and load calculation
- Media steelwork
- Desirable skills:
- Knowledge about stakeholders and interfaces to the assembly area
- Fundamental knowledge in decoupling buffers, sequencing buffers, runtime and lead time buffers
- Knowledge in equipment planning processes from concept to final handover
- Ensure production processes
- Fundamental office application skills and presentation skills
- Skills in web‑based applications
- Customer‑oriented skills
- P‑FMEA skills
- Poka Yoke
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

This is a full‑time, exempt position with a base salary and participation in an annual performance bonus program. Initial base salary range: $ – $. Final salary will be determined based on skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.
