Position SummaryBridge Brothers is seeking an experienced Fabricator to cut, shape, and assemble structural steel components for custom bridge projects. This position will work primarily in our Pickens, SC facility, but is also part of our Travel Welding/Fabrication Team, requiring the ability to travel on short notice to support field fabrication, installation activities, and on-site project needs.
The ideal candidate has strong steel fabrication skills, can read engineering drawings, and is comfortable with a mix of shop-based fabrication and hands‑on field work as required.
Key ResponsibilitiesShop Fabrication (Primary Duties)
- Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and specifications.
- Lay out, measure, and mark steel components according to drawings.
- Use fabrication equipment such as saws, shears, torches, grinders, and presses.
- Fit and assemble structural steel parts prior to welding.
- Ensure parts and assemblies meet dimensional and quality requirements.
- Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, or other material‑handling equipment as needed.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
- Collaborate with welders, QC inspectors, and team members to meet project timelines.
- Follow all company safety standards and wear proper PPE at all times.
- Travel with short notice, including same-day or next-day departure when required.
- Support on‑site fabrication, installation, and field modifications.
- Assist welders and field crews with fit‑up and assembly during bridge installations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve fabrication issues in real time on job sites.
- Work in varying outdoor environments, sometimes for extended periods or multiple weeks.
- Represent Bridge Brothers professionally while working with clients, crews, and vendors.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 3+ years of steel fabrication experience preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings.
- Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment.
- Forklift and overhead crane experience preferred.
- Ability and willingness to travel frequently, sometimes with minimal notice.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to check dimensions for accuracy.
- Ability to work as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment.
- Physically capable of lifting up to 55 lbs. and working on your feet for extended periods.
- Shop fabrication environment with exposure to loud noise, sparks, and moving equipment.
- Field conditions may include outdoor work, uneven terrain, weather exposure, and elevated work areas.
- Frequent standing, bending, stooping, and lifting required.
