Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, train, and motivate detail technicians to meet quality and productivity standards
- Hire, onboard, and discipline staff as needed, building a reliable and accountable team
- Set daily work assignments and manage schedules to meet dealership demand
- Coach team members on proper detailing techniques, safety, and time management
- Operational Management
- Oversee daily workflow for new car prep, used car reconditioning, service detail, and customer pay details
- Ensure vehicles are completed on time and to dealership standards
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe detail department
- Implement and enforce standard operating procedures for detailing quality and efficiency
- Quality Control
- Perform final inspections on completed vehicles before delivery to sales or customers
- Ensure all vehicles meet brand, dealership, and customer expectations
- Address and resolve quality issues promptly and professionally
- Inventory & Cost Control
- Manage inventory of chemicals, supplies, and equipment
- Control expenses by monitoring usage, waste, and vendor pricing
- Maintain and care for all detail equipment and tools
- Interdepartmental Coordination
- Work closely with Sales Managers, Inventory Manager, Service Advisors, and Detail Schedulers
- Communicate daily production status and any delays or issue
- Support sales and service delivery deadlines, including high-volume and peak periods
- Reporting & Accountability
- Track productivity, cycle time, vehicles completed, and redo rates
- Provide daily and weekly performance reports to management
- Recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and profitability
- 3+ years of automotive detailing experience, including leadership or supervisory responsibility
- Strong knowledge of detailing chemicals, tools, and techniques
- Proven ability to manage people, schedules, and production goals
- High attention to detail with strong quality standards
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume dealership environment
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
- Leadership and team development
