PositionDescription
The Safety Manager supports the senior safety manager and project team in the successful completion of a construction project. This position assists the project team in managing safety and health processes, ensuring safety‑sensitive standards are met throughout the project lifecycle.
Position Qualifications- A 4‑year degree preferred;
Occupational Safety and Health degree suggested. - Minimum of 5 years of experience in safety on commercial construction projects.
- Experience on USACE construction sites as SSHO required.
- Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification suggested.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel), Prolog, Primavera, and Auto Desk Suite.
- Must be able to pass a security clearance check for badging.
- Communicate with project owners, insurance carriers, Hensel Phelps staff, and trade partners; attend owner meetings and collaborate with safety representatives.
- Enhance safety culture through executive safety charrettes and participation in the CARES (craft safety) committee.
- Assist project team with safety start‑up, program development, implementation, and management; help create and manage the safety budget and anticipated supplies.
- Oversee the safety point file system and documentation; maintain project statistical data.
- Participate in the six‑step quality control/safety process, including activity hazard analyses and follow‑up inspections; focus high‑risk activities and work with area superintendents to control risk.
- Conduct project safety training and develop safety training schedules; assist team members in conducting training including tailgate meetings.
- Lead the development and implementation of the project's SAFE program; analyze safety trends and partner with PS to address unsafe trends.
- Conduct project safety audits and assist in team audits.
- Evaluate and develop personnel.
- Possess knowledge of construction processes and the roles and responsibilities of all positions.
