Position SummaryThe Facilities Support Technician ensures the IBHS campus, laboratory spaces, and office environments remain clean, safe, and operationally ready. This role plays a critical part in maintaining a professional and hazard-free environment that supports research, testing, and member engagement activities. Through consistent attention to detail and proactive facility support, this position contributes directly to workplace safety, operational efficiency, and the overall experience of employees and visitors.
Key Responsibilities Facility Cleaning & Maintenance- Perform routine cleaning and sanitation of offices, laboratories, restrooms, conference rooms, and common areas according to established standards
- Maintain floors, windows, surfaces, and fixtures in accordance with facility standards and organizational expectations
- Remove waste and recyclables and manage disposal procedures in compliance with environmental guidelines
- Support cleaning needs related to laboratory testing activities and construction debris when required
- Follow all safety protocols, chemical handling procedures, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements at all times
- Identify and report maintenance issues, hazards, or facility concerns promptly to the Campus Operations Manager
- Ensure cleaning materials are stored safely and inventory is maintained appropriately to prevent safety risks
- Assist with event setup and breakdown, including moving furniture or equipment as needed
- Support seasonal facility needs, including storm preparation and minor grounds support
- Maintain custodial equipment in proper working condition and report maintenance needs
- Facilities are consistently clean, organized, and professional in appearance
- Safety risks related to housekeeping are minimized and proactively addressed
- Supplies are managed efficiently and inventory is maintained proactively
- Employees and visitors experience a well‑maintained and welcoming environment
- Issues are identified early and addressed promptly with minimal disruption to operations
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Prior custodial, janitorial, or facilities experience preferred but not required
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment and handle cleaning chemicals safely
- Strong attention to detail and demonstrated reliability
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
This role operates throughout office, laboratory, and large‑scale testing environments. Exposure may include construction materials, laboratory debris, cleaning chemicals, and varying temperatures. Use of PPE may be required in designated areas.
Physical Requirements- Medium work: lifting heavy items occasionally, up to 25 lbs. Heavier items may require team lift or mechanical assistance
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting throughout the workday
- Ability to push and pull cleaning equipment and waste containers
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors as needed
