Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Industrial Maintenance

The Maintenance Technician 4 is responsible for the safety, quality, cost and efficiency of his or her Team. Maintenance Technician 4 will have an in-depth knowledge of the Mechanical and Electrical Maintenance procedures. They will direct maintenance personnel on their team to achieve maximum reliability and performance while performing work safely and with quality work for the entire facility.
Duties and responsibilitiesMaintenance Technician 4 will organize and oversee his or her shift of the facility, including all equipment in the operational areas like the Batch, Melting, Sizing, Bushing, and Fiber Forming/Fabrication areas and the equipment in the Maintenance areas including Compressed Air, Natural Gas, Process Water, and Fire Systems.
- Advanced troubleshooting and diagnostics: Use diagnostic tools to identify and solve complex problems in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Complex repairs: Repair and maintain sophisticated production equipment, including numerical control systems, and perform complex diagnoses on high‑level equipment.
- Advanced maintenance: Perform advanced preventive and predictive maintenance tasks, which may include tasks like laser and reverse alignment, and work on systems like pumps and gearboxes.
- System and facility maintenance: Maintain and repair various building systems, including electrical, plumbing, and HVAC, and ensure all systems meet industry code and standards.
- Documentation and communication: Maintain accurate records of all maintenance work, communicate with management about equipment issues and potential problems, and follow standard operating procedures.
- Safety and compliance: Ensure all work is done in compliance with safety regulations, standards, and best practices, and maintain safety systems like fire and carbon monoxide alarms.
- Technical proficiency: Utilize specialized tools and technologies, such as portable programmers, hand tools, power tools, and software for tracking maintenance.
- Partner with other team members to formulate objectives and achieve requirements
- Follow effective Preventative Maintenance program to ensure equipment reliability
- Technical expertise for equipment and maintenance process
- Monitor maintenance, reliability and performance and make decisions to solve problems
- Determine resources necessary to achieve objectives (manpower, equipment, tools, etc.)
- Manage the maintenance work orders and purchasing requests
- Follow Health and Safety procedures and precautions
Qualifications include:
- Proven experience as a Manufacturing Maintenance Technician.
- In-depth knowledge of Mechanical and Electrical maintenance procedures.
- Knowledge and Understanding of Health & Safety regulations.
- Organizational and leadership skills.
- Attention to detail, Problem Solving skills, and Decision-Making skills.
- 3 to 5 years’ experience in maintenance experience.
- Must be able to troubleshoot any system in the facility, and be able to read and understand ladder logic and make changes in the programs as needed.
- Have a highly advanced understanding of electrical systems and all plant systems.
- Must have a proven ability to lead others safely and complete tasks and work.
- Must have a very thorough understanding of mechanical process all over the plant.
- Must be able to effectively PM all mechanical equipment in the plant.
Fast Paced Environment in a Manufacturing operation. The job will normally be in a 24‑hour 7 day a week facility with normal business hours, however this position could have overtime, and call ins.
Area is not climate controlled, and subject to extreme temperatures especially around the melting area. Other areas have numerous chemical tanks and require respirator use in batch area. Other areas the floors are very wet and require care when walking and working around.
Physical requirementsRequire physical inspection of all areas of the operations several times a day, requirement to be on the floor approximately 90% of the time. Must be able to walk through entire operations, climb stairs and vertical ladders to access the manufacturing areas.
