Job Duties:
- The CSS Attorney III is responsible for the preparation of Child Support Cases for Family Court; performance of activities in Court; the follow-up on these cases, including parent locate and processing of interstate cases; and is responsible for providing general child support services to clients as required or needed.
- Represents out-of-state petitioners in reciprocal support suits and monitors outgoing UIFSA cases.
- Negotiates complex settlement of Child Support cases with opposing counsel.
- Prepares and monitors pleadings and preparation of cases for judicial hearings.
- Responsible for trial of cases and appearance at Court or other judicial hearings.
- Assists in coordinating at county level interrelationship between CSSD and Family Court personnel.
- Handles appeals resulting from child support cases.
- Performs job delivery and/or performance with positive or appropriate customer service delivery to clients, the public, and co-workers as an integral requirement.
- Ensures that personal identifying information (PII) is properly used, accessed, safeguarding systems, equipment and data.
- Assist Regional Director and regional case manager supervisors in training new attorneys and case managers. Advises regional case managers in assigned counties.
- Performs related duties as required, to include Red Cross or emergency shelter duty as assigned.
A Juris Doctor Degree from an ABA accredited law school and experience as a practicing attorney.
Necessary Special Requirement:
Must be a member of the SC BAR.
Experience as a DSS Attorney preferred.
