Legal Assistant – Litigation Defense
The McKay Firm – Columbia, SC
The McKay Firm is seeking a detail‑oriented and proactive Legal Assistant to join our litigation defense team. This role is essential in supporting attorneys with case preparation, legal research, and administrative tasks to ensure the smooth operation of our practice.
Key Responsibilities- Assist attorneys with case management and document preparation
- Conduct legal research to support litigation strategies
- Maintain and organize case files, discovery materials, and correspondence
- Communicate effectively with attorneys, clients, and court personnel
- Manage calendars, deadlines, and scheduling for legal proceedings
- File pleadings electronically with state and federal courts
- Assist attorneys with trial preparation and attendance of trial
- Prior experience as a legal assistant or in a legal administrative role preferred
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe, and legal case management software
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
- High level of professionalism and discretion
