We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Field Service Technician to join our team.
In this role, you will be responsible for installing, configuring, and testing Point of Sale (POS) systems—both hardware and software—at client sites. You will ensure that all systems are operational, provide basic training to users, and support the technical team in post-installation troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities:- Install, configure, and test POS hardware components (terminals, receipt printers, cash drawers, barcode scanners, payment terminals, etc.).
- Install and configure POS software on client machines, ensuring all updates and settings are correctly applied.
- Coordinate with clients for site readiness, access, and schedule installation windows.
- Perform network setup for POS systems, including routers, switches, and basic cabling (if required).
- Conduct functional testing and ensure proper operation of the installed system.
- Provide end-user training on basic system usage and troubleshooting.
- Document installation procedures, configurations, and client-specific settings.
- Respond to and resolve any installation-related issues, escalating as needed.
- Maintain and manage tools, devices, and installation kits.
- Collaborate with support and project teams to ensure successful deployment.
- Proven experience in hardware/software installation, preferably with POS systems.
- Working knowledge of Windows OS and basic networking.
- Familiarity with POS software such as [Insert relevant software, e.g., Square, Clover, NCR, Toast, etc.].
- Ability to read and follow technical documentation and schematics.
- Strong communication and customer service skills. (Speaking fluent Maltese is Preferred)
- Ability to travel to client sites (valid driver’s license required).
- Physically able to lift equipment and perform installations (up to 50 lbs).
- Technical certification (Preference to those who have certifications like CompTIA A+, Network+, or similar).
- Experience with remote support tools and ticketing systems.
- Experience working in the retail, hospitality, or restaurant industries.
