Under limited supervision, the Data Visualization Developer will work with and take direction from the Lead Data Visualization Developer. Working closely with other IT professionals and epidemiologists from various program areas, the Dashboard Developer will perform statistical analysis, design charts and perform coding and testing as needed. A Developer in this position will participate in the documentation, implementation, modification, and upgrade of agency computer systems.
Tasks will include supporting business intelligence and data visualization systems, scripting automated processes, and remediation to solve customer issues, with a focus on supporting the Public Health Infrastructure initiatives.
Work in a team environment to implement, maintain and provide technical support for applications as assigned, including but not limited to Tableau and Power BI. Provide technical back‑up for other applications as assigned. Ensure systems integrate seamlessly with agency Electronic Document Management System (EDM) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Adhere to Information Technology application development standards. Assist with integration and monitoring of supporting system processes.
Communicate and collaborate with program areas, Systems Integration staff and other customers. Act as technical consultant to customers and work with other technology staff to ensure applications adhere to Information Technology application development standards. Assist with problem resolution and support the IT Service Center by responding to application‑related service calls. Prepare and maintain system documentation for applications supported and provide appropriate administrative documentation and project communication.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Employee will work under limited supervision and perform assigned duties with guidance and review from the Lead Developer. Must be customer‑oriented and respond to priority tasks as needed. Some after‑hours and weekend work may be required. Minimal amount of travel will be required.
StateMinimum Requirements
A high school diploma and work experience in the modification and maintenance of system programs, the design and development of system software, or the testing and debugging of system software. An associate degree or a bachelor's degree in a related field may substitute for the required work experience. Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

A bachelor's degree or professional experience related to the position. At least two (2) years of experience with Power BI. Basic working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server (Structured Query Language Server) and familiarity with Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) tools such as SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) to support reporting and analytics needs. Ability to present information in written and oral form.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

Strong analytical competencies; well versed in Power BI; strong understanding of data visualization best practices. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks efficiently and effectively. Position will support ongoing reporting, dashboard development, and data validation efforts across the team. Experience with geographic data visualization. Tableau experience.
