Under limited supervision, the staff member will serve as the primary IT Inventory Specialist and System Administrator for the agency IT Asset tracking system and inventory. Responsible for IT asset through the device life cycle. Monitor environments and back-end processes to ensure maximum uptime, efficiency and functionality. Provide custodianship of Central Office IT device purchases and deployments. Ensure compliance with state and agency security and IT policies or procedures.
Assist with customer support and improve user experience. Promote agency goals and initiative.
As the primary IT Inventory Specialist, manage and assist with day-to-day IT Asset Inventory operations, deployments, and supporting system administration. Create, support and maintain digital inventory through the device life cycle, to include reconciling inventory differences between physical devices and digital data. Create inventory reports. Proactively ensure all inventories are in good standing. Identify and implement opportunities to streamline the asset management process while maintaining service levels and customer stratification.
Ensure proper receiving and imaging of endpoint computer devices received through Central Office. Serve as the custodian for OIT staff IT assets for the department and Central Office. Work with other IT staff, program areas, and designated IT custodians to keep accurate records and chain of custody. Work with Business Management Program Asset Manager associated with IT fixed assets tracked in the SCEIS system.
Act as a technical consultant to customers, vendors, and other IT staff to provide support. Serve as the Subject Matter Expert and mentor technical team on advanced topics. Assist with life cycle analysis to determine what assets will be replaced, to include age, condition, and performance of asset. Promote agency initiatives. Respond to customer incident and service request tickets within the IT Service Level Agreement (SLA) time-frame.
Assist with problem resolution and Tier III support. Monitor solutions for incidents and potential issues. Assist other IT staff and customers to improve user experience with the solution. Prepare and maintain system documentation for systems supported, to include clear and concise end-user training instructions and FAQs. Provide training to system users and customers. Provide appropriate administrative documentation and project communication.
Other duties as assigned. The employee will work under limited supervision, following established policies, routine procedures, and guidelines. Must be self-motivated, customer-oriented, and respond to priority tasks as needed. Some after-hour and weekend work may be required to ensure maximum system uptime.
Minimum Requirements
A bachelor's degree in computer science or related field and experience in computer system development and modification. Relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.
Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
Agency Additional RequirementsA bachelor's degree in computer science or related field and experience in computer system development and modification in either an on-premises, cloud-based, or hybrid environment. At least five (5) years’ experience in Information Technology;
At least two (2) years’ experience administering and maintaining IT Asset Management systems and support environments. Experience building reports, creating automated workflow, scripting, and customer experience skills. Knowledge of Windows Desktop OS, iOS, software applications, network concepts, Active Directory, and desktop imaging and patching. Knowledge of IT Asset Management software solutions administration, configuration, analysis, test, debugging, maintenance scripting and security techniques.
Working knowledge of computer and operating systems, conceptual understanding of networking, and client server principles.
