Office of Information Technology; OIT - Network Technician II

The purpose of this position is to assist with various network projects to include hardware deployment, configuration, and inventory. This position will also provide operational support for network devices and specialized technologies such as telephony, cellular, and audio/visual.

• Assists with the hardware deployment and configuration of network devices such as routers, switches, and wireless access points.
• Assists with the support of the Agency's telephony, cellular, and cable services. Assists with the support of the Agency's specialized technologies such as audio/visual and access control.
• Performs operational tasks related to enabling/disabling network devices and/or troubleshooting issues.
• Performs periodic maintenance and lifecycle replacement on applicable infrastructure hardware such as Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) equipment. Ensures the accountability/inventory of infrastructure hardware, tools, and supplies.
• Collects data and prepares/maintains documents related to network devices, configurations, and/or network projects.
• Disassembles and prepares retired equipment for disposal.
• Performs other duties (pertinent to the function, authority, and responsibility of the position) as assigned.

A high school diploma and experience in information technology, electronics technology systems, or other related areas. An associate degree or bachelor's degree in a related field may be substituted for the required experience.

• Basic to moderately complex knowledge of data network services and data communications.
• Moderately complex knowledge of methods of data network design and equipment configuration requirements.
• Moderately complex knowledge of office automation systems, information processing operations, fiber optics, and microcomputer hardware/software as they relate to the latest trends in data networks connectivity.
• Moderately complex knowledge of computer system analysis, design, testing, debugging, and maintenance techniques. Ability to assist with presenting technical and non-technical reports in a clear and concise.
