. This organization develops responsible, AI-enabled software platforms that support 911 Emergency Communications Centers, law enforcement, and fire/EMS agencies
, helping improve operational performance, staffing efficiency, training outcomes, and overall responder effectiveness.
This role offers the opportunity to lead and scale engineering teams delivering mission-critical, security-sensitive platforms operating in regulated public safety environments.

The Engineering Manager will be responsible for leading one or more software engineering teams through the full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)—from architectural design and planning through implementation and deployment.
While this is a hands‑on leadership role requiring the ability to “walk the walk” technically, the primary focus is on building, enabling, and scaling high‑performing engineering teams
. The successful candidate will bring strong people leadership, technical credibility, and a disciplined approach to quality, security, and architecture in mission‑critical environments.
Lead and manage distributed engineering teams, ensuring efficient delivery through agile ceremonies (standups, retrospectives, planning, etc.).
Recruit, hire, coach, and develop engineering talent; conduct performance evaluations and ongoing feedback.
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement aligned with high‑availability software standards.
Ensure teams are empowered to deliver reliable, secure software used in public safety and emergency response environments

Define and document scalable system architectures, including diagrams, technical documentation, and implementation plans.
Ensure adherence to internal architecture standards and industry best practices for both SaaS and on‑premises deployments
.Partner with senior technical leadership on architectural direction and long‑term platform evolution.
Maintain the ability to contribute across the full technology stack (frontend, backend, and data).
Establish and enforce testing standards, including unit, integration, and functional automation (e.g., Selenium, Playwright).
Champion code quality, security, and performance in regulated environments.
Work closely with product, customer success, and support teams to ensure solutions align with customer needs.
Provide clear, consistent updates on team progress, risks, and performance to senior leadership and executive stakeholders.
U.S. Citizenship required
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
5+ years as a hands‑on software engineer within SaaS or technology‑driven organizations
5+ years leading software development teams
2+ years as a formal people manager (direct HR responsibility) managing teams of 6–10 engineers
Strong experience with .NET and/or Java (Spring Boot strongly preferred)
Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Angular, etc.)
Proven experience designing and documenting public and private APIs
Hands‑on experience with AWS and Infrastructure‑as‑Code
Strong background with relational databases (Postgre
SQL, MySQL, etc.)Excellent communication skills and ability to operate effectively in a remote environment
Minimum of 2 years with direct management responsibilities (i.e. not just leading a team, but being an actual HR designated manager with experience using performance management techniques) for teams of 6 - 10 members.
Experience working in CJIS‑compliant environments
Background in public safety, emergency communications, or regulated government technology
Exposure to AI‑enabled platforms and associated security considerations
Experience with alternative data stores (Open Search, Redshift, etc.)
