Location

Midlands Regional Center, an Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF‑IID) located in Columbia, SC serving residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Shift Differential

This position is eligible for up to $3.50 per hour shift differential for applicable shifts!

Employment Contingency

Employment is contingent upon receipt of required pre‑employment screenings: medical screening, drug screening, background checks, South Carolina Department of Social Services Child Abuse and Neglect Central Registry screening, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General “List of Excluded Individuals/Entities” screening, South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles Driving Record check, and a review of transcripts verifying educational credentials.

We reserve the right to rescind an offer of employment if minimum requirements are not met.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Three (3) years of experience working with individuals with disabilities and special needs.
  • Administrative abilities and general knowledge of intellectual disabilities.
  • Basic computer skills (use of Therap and SCEIS Central for time and leave purposes).
  • Knowledge of relevant federal and state regulations and basic safety practices.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Physical abilities including lifting, pushing, standing, stooping, kneeling, and running.
  • Ability to work with individuals who may be physically aggressive or medically fragile.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments for certain periods of time.
Responsibilities
  • Ensure health and safety of each consumer while following the prescribed behavior support plan, dining protocol, lifting protocol, and training and service programs as outlined in their individual support plan.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to entry‑level Direct Support Professionals on an ongoing basis.
  • Follow sound professional techniques while providing direct, hands‑on individual care to all consumers as needed.
  • Participate in training and provide guidance to consumers in the development of activities of daily living skills.
  • Transport and monitor consumers to and from off‑campus appointments, programs, and activities.
  • Implement training and service programs as outlined in the individual support plan, assist with daily activities, and engage consumers in group activities.
  • Complete timely and accurate data collection and/or assessments. Maintain documentation in compliance with agency and office policies and procedures.
  • Provide input and engage as an active member of the interdisciplinary team. Participate in team meetings and scheduled staff meetings as required.
  • Report significant events and suspected abuse immediately per agency and office policies and procedures.
  • Ensure safe, orderly, neat, clean environment for all consumers.
  • Follow all agency and office policies and procedures and may be required to perform additional duties as required.
