This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health, Sumter clinic located at 801 N. Pike West, Sumter, SC 29153.

Responsibilities
  • Provide advanced counseling and emergency services in the complex areas of mental health for children, adolescents, and families within the Center's outpatient and/or community-based programs.
  • Provide privileged clinical services to include, but not limited to, assessments, crisis management, individual, group, and family therapy and PRS to children, adolescents, and families in accordance with Quality Assurance standards.
  • Provide prevention and intervention services for outpatient as described in the model.
  • Participate in treatment team meetings/staffings and administrative meetings as designated. Adhere to Corporate Compliance, Fire and Safety, CARF, and HIPAA standards.
  • Provide case management and ancillary services to children and their families in coordination with other agencies such as: DSS, DJJ, COC, DDSN etc. in order to facilitate the total treatment of assigned consumers.
  • Confer with referring entities, e.g. state agencies, physicians' offices, schools, etc., in a consultative manner on issues related to children and adolescents in regard to mental health treatment coordination and recommendations.
  • Participate in clinical staffings and other designated interagency or requested school meetings by families, e.g., IEP, manifestation hearings, etc., to offer appropriate consultation, referrals, and mental health treatment recommendations as needed.
  • Provide education/training to schools, agencies, faith-based organizations, and the community at large as requested.
  • Develop, arrange, and facilitate services for the assigned caseload, to ensure that services do not lapse during these periods of time. Participate and assist with planning/coordination of community outreach events.
  • Active participation in data collection and assimilation for reporting outcomes as required for CAF services program reporting as needed.
Qualifications
  • A master's degree in guidance, counseling, the social sciences or a related field.
  • Ability to operate non-adaptive vehicles.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to complete MAPS training.
  • Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.
  • Licensure eligible in his/her specific field of study.
Post-hire requirements
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate well with others and foster relationships between local community partners and the Mental Health Center.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work with independence.
  • Complete MAPS training.
  • Demonstrate the ability to travel throughout the Santee-Wateree catchment area as directed.
