We are seeking a Direct Support Manager to help individuals and families navigate challenges and achieve long‑term wellness in a compassionate and accessible care environment.
Under the direction of the Residential Director, this position:
Responsibilities- Serves as the Direct Support Manager/Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional (QIDP) of an assigned residential area of an Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF-IID) of BHDD-OIDD.
- Ensures that each individual receives services and interventions necessary to meet identified needs in accordance with active treatment standards on a daily basis.
- Provides thorough, accurate, and timely documentation of services provided. Maintains documentation in compliance with agency and office rules, regulations, and policies. Ensures that programs and training are amended based on progress or newly identified needs or concerns.
- Develops Direct Support Professional III leadership and supervisory skills to enable effective training, supervision, and retention of assigned personnel. Builds relationships with employees to foster trust and open dialogue. Oversees the management and oversight of one or more residential buildings and supervises related personnel. Monitors staff schedules to ensure appropriate coverage to support consumer needs. Completes monthly monitoring of Individual Support Plan training for staff and provides training as needed.
Oversees staff performance and conducts annual evaluations. Schedules coordination is performed with assistance as needed. - Maintains continuous communication with guardians and advocates regarding significant events including injuries, incidents, training, and health of individuals, including medical conditions, hospitalizations, campus activities, and other adverse events.
- Monitors consistency among external and internal programs and disciplines to resolve discrepancies between programmatic, medical, dietary, and vocational aspects of assessments and programs.
- Promotes a safe, orderly, neat, and clean environment for consumers. Reports significant events and suspected abuse immediately per policy and procedures.
- Performs additional duties as necessary.
This position is located at Midlands Regional Center, an ICF-IID of BHDD-OIDD in Columbia, SC serving residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
QualificationsBachelor’s degree in a human services field (e.g., sociology, special education, rehabilitation counseling, psychology), or licensure/doctorate as applicable. Two years of related experience providing professional or direct services, including at least one year with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
Knowledge of federal and state regulations. Ability to perform basic administrative tasks. General knowledge of individuals with intellectual disabilities. Knowledge of safety practices. Ability to communicate clearly. Ability to use a computer. Physical ability to bend, stoop, lift, push, pull, reach, and walk. Ability to work in a group home, home-like setting, or ICF. Ability to supervise subordinates. Must be able to work with individuals who may be physically aggressive or medically fragile.
