WHAT YOU WILL DO- Provide developmentally appropriate respiratory care for infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
- Perform inpatient assessments, oxygen therapy, medication administration, specialty gases, and mechanical ventilation
- Conduct arterial blood gases, interpret results, and perform routine QC and equipment maintenance
- Initiate, monitor, and troubleshoot CPAP/BiPAP systems
- Perform diagnostic procedures including pulse oximetry, bedside spirometry, flow studies, and peak flows
- Support pulmonary rehab through patient assessment, individualized treatment planning, education, and follow‑up
- Document patient history, treatment responses, progress, and outcomes
- Participate in Code Blue response and provide CPR
- Assist with patient and family education
- Serve as a preceptor for students and new team members
- Attend high‑risk neonatal deliveries and provide neonatal respiratory care
- Perform pulmonary function testing and indirect calorimetry
- Contribute to QA data collection and multidisciplinary team meetings
- Minimum Education:
2 Year Associate's Degree (AMA accredited program for Respiratory Care and registered through the National Board for Respiratory Care) - Substitutable
Education & Experience:
Associate's Degree may be substituted for active RRT credential through National Board for Respiratory Care, active license through SC LLR, and 10 years of direct experience as a Respiratory Therapist. - Required Certifications/Licensure:
Licensed by the Board of Medical Examiners for the State of South Carolina (biennial renewal required);
Infant/Child and Adult Basic Life Support (BLS) Certified - ACLS for Pulmonary Rehab, Pulmonary Lab, CVICU therapist, and for the Rapid Response Team. (Within six months or first available class). NRP required for Special Care Nursery assignments
