Summary:
Collect venous and capillary specimens using Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and aseptic technique in multiple inpatient and outpatient settings; perform bedside testing; perform Laboratory Information System (LIS) functions; provide instruction to students/personnel; perform laboratory related duties as requested by the Manager.
High school diploma or equivalent (GED) and 1 year phlebotomy experience as a phlebotomist required.

firm grasping with fingers and hands (Continuous); fine manipulation with fingers and hands (Continuous); reach overhead (Frequent); perform repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders (Continuous); fully use both legs (Continuous); use lower extremities for balance and coordination (Frequent); reach in all directions (Continuous); lift and carry up to 50 lbs unassisted (Infrequent); lift/lower objects 50 lbs from/to floor from/to 36 inches unassisted (Infrequent);
lift from 36" to overhead 25 lbs (Infrequent); exert up to 50 lbs of force (Frequent).
Examples include: transferring a 100 lb patient requires 50 lbs of force; for every 100 additional pounds, assistance will be required from another healthcare worker; 20 lbs to push a 400 lb patient in a wheelchair on carpet; 25 lbs to push a stretcher with a patient with one hand. Visual and sensory requirements: maintain 20/40 vision, corrected; color discrimination; distance perception;
good peripheral vision; hearing acuity with correction; fine motor and gross motor function; tolerate stressful situations; work rotating shifts; work overtime as required; work in a latex safe environment; maintain tactile sensory functions; (Selected Positions) maintain good olfactory sensory function; (Selected Positions) be qualified physically for respirator use, initially and as required.
Job Description
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
At least 6 months phlebotomy experience required. Credentials:
Completed Accredited Phlebotomy Certificate Course. This is a Career Ladder Position. Internal candidates are required to submit and meet Path and Lab ICCE Career Ladder requirements. External candidates are required to complete Path and Lab ICCE Career Ladder requirements within 90 days in position.
