• Pre-analytical processing of laboratory specimens including order processing, specimen verification, centrifugation, aliquoting, etc.
• Validating and processing specimens delivered to the laboratory, ensuring timely and appropriate specimen preparation for testing.
• May perform phlebotomy.
• Make decisions and solve problems, recognizing when to involve leadership support.
• Ensure policies and procedures are followed.
• Advising and assisting in orientation and training of other personnel on equipment and software as necessary.

• Education:
  
  High School Diploma or GED, required.
• Experience:
  
  Three years of relevant phlebotomy and/or specimen processing experience, preferred.
• Licensure/certification/registration:
  Phlebotomy certification required within 6 months of hire; certs such as ASCP, ASPT, AMT, or NHA.
• Additional skills:

• Phlebotomy and performing specific tasks in Anatomic Pathology and/or Microbiology are required; certification must be obtained within 12 months of hire.
• Knowledge of current medical terminology to perform full range of laboratory tasks.
• Ability to communicate clearly and follow written protocols.
• Work independently and maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and public.
