Job Description Summary
Medical technologist support high quality laboratory testing in a clinical laboratory. Prepares specimens for testing, performs routine laboratory tests, performs specialized laboratory tests, performs quality control, troubleshoots quality control errors and maintenance procedures, recognizes and evaluates computer data problems, troubleshoots laboratory instruments, performs preventative maintenance, communicates technical information to medical and lay persons, assists with training laboratory personnel in routine procedures, participates in continuing education, recognizes normal and abnormal values, and models Standards of Behavior in daily interactions and activities.

MinimumExperience and Training Requirements
A Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related medical or scientific discipline with 0-1 year experience.
Required License, Certification and RegistrationMust have met the educational requirements for and passed a recognized Certification Examination for Medical Technologist (also known as Medical Laboratory Scientist, MLS or Clinical Laboratory Scientist, CLS).
Certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC). If not certified, must be registry eligible and successfully obtain certification within the first year of employment.
