Child Therapist – Part-Time

South Carolina Mentor, a part of the Sevita family, provides Residential and Treatment Foster Care services to youth who may be facing out-of-home placements, transitioning back into the family home or independent living alternatives, or involved in the juvenile justice system.

Part-Time $24/hr

• Conduct psychosocial assessments, document history, and identify preliminary issues for treatment by interviewing the child and family.
• Provide therapy, family support, and crisis interventions to an individual, family and/or group using treatment modalities outlined in state/local contracts or licensing standards.
• Provide mental health consultation to stakeholders and treatment team members.
• Develop individualized treatment plans in coordination with an interdisciplinary team.
• Coordinate other treatment initiatives such as school performance, permanency, and reunification planning.
• Develop and coordinate discharge plans indicating aftercare needs.
• Conduct educational groups for clients, families, and foster parents.
• Prepare and train the child’s biological or legal parents to resume care when reunification is the goal.
• Conduct face-to-face meetings to monitor progress and discuss treatment strategies.
• Maintain current, legible, and adequate medical record documentation in the client’s chart.
• Attend regular staff meetings, clinical meetings, and one-on-one sessions with the direct supervisor.

• Master’s Degree in Human Services field.
• Clinical license to practice independently in SC.
• Experience preferred or required by state.
• Exceptional communication skills, ability to establish trust quickly.
• Good listener with an ability to empathize while providing guidance.
