Job Description Summary
Under general supervision, the Certified Surgical Technologist II functions as a member of the operating room team to prepare sterile supplies and equipment used in surgical procedures and perform appropriate room duties involving direct patient care while adhering to established procedural guidelines. This position demonstrates knowledge and skills required to provide care and/or service appropriate to the level of development of patients, with consideration of the needs of patients' families.
Responsibilities- Prepare sterile supplies and equipment for surgical procedures.
- Perform room duties involved with direct patient care while following procedural guidelines.
- Assist providers and nurses with vaginal deliveries, supply restocking, instrument flow, front desk customer service and engagement.
- Participate in emergency situations, applying critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
- Collaborate with peers to assess patient and surgeon needs during procedures.
- Practice autonomously within the clinical specialty.
- Maintain efficiency, prioritize tasks, and manage most situations confidently.
- Graduation from an accredited surgical technology program or military program.
- Minimum one year of work experience as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST).
- Credentialed as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (formerly LCC-ST) and must be maintained.
- Level II requires higher level of critical thinking and problem‑solving skills and fulfillment of Level I criteria.
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.
