Location: Columbia
Overview
An established and well-respected construction company in the Columbia, SC metropolitan area is seeking a Finance Manager to lead and direct the accounting and finance functions across multiple legal entities. This is a key leadership role within the organization, working closely with executive leadership to support strategic decision-making and drive strong financial performance. The Finance Manager will oversee financial operations, lead and develop an accounting team, and provide critical financial insights that support business growth and profitability.

Key Qualifications (Must-Have)- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5+ years of accounting or finance experience, including construction industry experience
- At least 1 year of leadership or management experience overseeing accounting/finance staff
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and job cost accounting
- Advanced Excel skills and strong attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- High level of integrity, accountability, and professionalism
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory management, and general ledger
- Manage the monthly close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Maintain and document accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements and performance reports
- Coordinate the Weekly Flash Report and Monthly KPI reporting
- Provide written and verbal financial analysis comparing actual results to budgets and forecasts
- Analyze overhead costs and financial trends to identify opportunities for improvement
- Review project job costs and financial performance, recommending pricing strategies with leadership to improve profitability
- Partner with leadership to develop and maintain the annual budget
- Prepare and update quarterly financial forecasts
- Manage banking relationships alongside executive leadership
- Monitor daily and weekly cash requirements
- Develop and maintain cash flow forecasts
- Ensure proper funding across multiple legal entities
- Maintain strong internal control systems
- Manage insurance programs, including property, general liability, and workers’ compensation
- Oversee project bonding requirements
- Maintain relationships with external CPA firms
- Ensure compliance with tax filings, regulatory reporting, and financial statement reviews or audits
- Prepare and manage business and contractor licensing requirements
- Lead, mentor, and develop accounting and finance staff
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment
- Implement cross-training programs across accounting functions
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for finance operations
- Evaluate accounting processes and recommend operational improvements
- Assist with contractor and subcontractor prequalification processes
- Support the President and executive leadership on financial and operational initiatives
- Perform additional duties as needed
- Experience with AIA Billing software
- Experience with Foundation Construction Software
- Experience with in glass or specialty construction industries

This position operates in a traditional office environment in the Columbia, SC area. The role requires sustained concentration and the ability to manage deadlines and competing priorities within a collaborative team setting.
Schedule- Ability to work approximately 45–50 hours per week as business needs require.
