Location: Columbia

Description

This is a full‑time position working (40‑hours/week) Monday‑Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.

This position is an on‑site position reporting to 4101 Percival Rd., Columbia, SC.

What You’ll Do:
  • Manages actuarial reporting, filing, and analysis functions including rate filing assembly, benefit cost analytics, and other duties as assigned.
  • Researches and monitors trends and profitability of Small Group and Individual lines of business (ACA, pre-ACA, and Medicare Supplement) and produces forecasts.
  • Maintains and enhances actuarial models.
  • Hires and trains staff (1–2 direct reports), which includes interviewing and selection of personnel, conducting performance reviews, counseling, and other administrative functions.
Required Work Experience

7 Years Actuarial experience or 5 Years Actuarial experience with Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) or Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS) designation.

Required Education

Bachelor's in a job‑related field.

Strong communication, decision‑making, and organizational skills. Good judgment. Knowledge of statistical principles and practices. Ability to use complex mathematical calculations. Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and model development skills. Ability to handle confidential or sensitive information with discretion.

Required Software and Other Tools

Microsoft Office. Thorough knowledge of mainframe systems and data extraction. Computer systems support knowledge. Basic computer programming skills.

Required Licenses and Certificates

Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) or Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS) designation, or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire.

Work Environment

Typical office environment. Travel required.
